Call for Nominations

As noted in our Bylaws, our May "Annual" General meeting is our chance to vote on major policy decisions as well as elect our four Officers and five Directors (known as The Board). Nominations for some of the Board positions were accepted at the April general meeting, and it was announced that additional nominations for our Board positions will continue (via this place on the FORUM) thru and including at the May general meeting itself. You may nominate for any position, regardless if someone is already nominated.

Some background in the nomination requirements, as well as some of the duties of the Board are noted here for those interested. A nominee for the Board must be a paid "Voting Member" for at least 28 days prior to being elected. Board members serve until the following May "Annual Meeting".

As described in the Bylaws, the positions open for nomination are:

President: "The president shall preside over meetings and, with other Officers, shall plan meeting agendas. The president shall appoint chairs of committees."

Vice-President: "The vice president shall act in place of the president when he or she is unable to act." (traditionally, the VP generates the General Meeting agenda and posts it to our FORUM)

Treasurer: "The treasurer shall keep financial records and perform other financial duties. The treasurer shall conduct meetings in the absence of the president and vice president."

Secretary: "The secretary shall keep a record of the minutes and other records and correspondence of the Association. The secretary shall conduct meetings in the absence of the president and vice president and the treasurer." (Traditionally, the secretary posts general & board meeting minutes to our FORUM)

Five At-Large Directors (Traditionally they attend General & Board meetings, assist the Officers, provide general oversight and council to the Officers in keeping with the Mission and Purpose of the Association.)

Think about serving your neighborhood yourself or nominating someone you feel would be good for Coronado. Serving on the leadership of our Association is a great way to meet your neighbors as well as meet active folks in other neighborhoods; also a great way to work within a volunteer association and be exposed to local politics.
All nominees shall be a Member, as stated earlier, and shall be nominated by a Member and seconded by another Member.

Our April General meeting resulted in the following nominations:

Secretary: open
Treasurer: Bob Meitz

Director #1: Don Mertes
Director #2: Bill Newcomb
Director #3: open
Director #4: Faith Klepper
Director #5: Joe Murphy

We will be accepting nominations and seconds on this FORUM subtopic, as well as at the May meeting. So sign-up for the FORUM, log-on, and nominate those you feel will best serve the CNA.

As a reminder, members must be present to vote. Nominees must agree to serve to be nominated. All voting is by paid-voting members. Be sure to renew your annual $5 membership if you have not yet done so.

Additionally, at the May "Annual Meeting" we will be voting on the Annual Membership Fee (currently $5), so be thinking about this item.
